On the morning of April 12, the Department of Civil Affairs of Hainan Province staged the “Serve the People with Action, Uphold the Mission with Wellness” 2025 Walkathon and Weight Management Event at the Haikou Jiangdong Coastal Park. The Event was held in response to the call of the National Health Commission for the three-year “Weight Management Year” campaign, aimed at promoting green, healthy lifestyles, and energizing the dedication of the staff of the Department to the Hainan Free Trade Port. Over 160 staff members and leaders from the Department and the units directly under the Department, including Zeng Feng, Party Secretary and Deputy Director of the Department, Long Dingmin, Director of the Department, participated in the campaign.
During the walkathon, participants strode with steady, vigorous steps, exchanging hiking experiences, sharing lighthearted anecdotes, and discussing work insights. The activity not only allowed attendees to connect with nature but also strengthened team cohesion, showcasing their dynamic spirits.
Following the walkathon, the Department also offered educational sessions on the introduction of welfare lottery and environmental protection. At the welfare lottery session, all attendees explored the history of China’s welfare lottery programs, reviewed informational displays, and engaged in interactive games like Double Color Ball and Scratch-Off Tickets. These interactions have helped them approach, understand and support the public welfare programs. Also, at the environmental protection session, the lecture delivered detailed presentations to the attendees on waste sorting, energy conservation, emission reduction and other environmental protection knowledge, giving them insights into how to classify wastes while enhancing their awareness and participation in waste classification and sustainable practices.
The Event was hosted by the Trade Union of the Department of Civil Affairs of Hainan Province, sponsored by the Provincial Welfare Lottery Distribution Center Trade Union, and supported by the Hainan BlueRibbon Ocean Conservation Association and the Hainan Environmental Cleaning Service Industry Association. Upon the conclusion of the event, attendees pledged to embrace weight management as a lifestyle, champion public welfare causes, and uphold eco-friendly practices, moving faster to contribute to the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port through civic action.
